A day dedicated to the sea and its wonders, where you'll be able to observe the wild life that abounds in the outskirts of the azorean shores. This tour takes about 2.5 hours, starting the first tour at 09:00am and ending around 11:30pm and the second tour at 14:30pm and ending at 17:00pm, with a 3 hour break for lunch, leisure and relaxation. We recommend going to the beach or natural pools, they're beautiful!
At Mosteiros we are privileged by our location, at the west part of the island we find refuge, relaxation, peace from all the noise from traffic and city lights, as do the whales, turtles, dolphins and fish we find out here. There are more than 25 cetacean species that you can observe out here. The Azorean whale's migration route is a good indicator that you'll surely see whales around here, but we believe that there are some resident specimens around the area, especially sperm whales, throughout the whole year. It's truly life abundant. You will also have the chance to pass by the iconic islets of Mosteiros and glance the amazing coastline that this bay has.
At our base, you will be given a life jacket, a waterproof light jacket and a briefing by our professional guide about what you can expect to see and about our safety procedures. After that we'll head out to the port (1 minute by foot) and into the boat, then we will head out to the positions given by our whale spotter at land. Each tour will last more or less 3 hours and then we'll head back to our office where and share with you some additional info about the animals that we saw on the trip. Please remember that the animals are in their home, wandering in the great Atlantic ocean and because of that the sighting of cetacean is not guaranteed.
Bring water, light food, warm clothes and a camera. We can also share our pictures with you!
For all bookings of day tours, a minimum of 24 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours notice, no refund is given.
For all bookings of multi-day and custom private tours, a minimum of 72 hours' notice prior to your scheduled departure is required in order to receive a full refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 72 hours' notice, no refund is given*
*Note that in the event the client requests a refund for any reason, Tour Desk reserves the right to charge a 3% administration fee to cover costs incurred.

The whale watching tour only takes place when the sea conditions in Mosteiros allows it, when we have a minimum of 6 persons and under the authorization of the chief skipper. Life-jacket is mandatory.
Terra do Pico reserves the right to cancel the trip and/or change the scheduled trip for security reasons, weather conditions, insufficient passengers and customs irregularities.
Responsibility: Each client must follow all of the security regulations on board and compromise itself to respect the Portuguese law. Underaged passengers can only embark in the company of an adult recognized as the legal tutor. Terra do Pico cannot be responsible in the case of breakage or loss of personal objects, such as: glasses, lens, cameras, phones, and others. Such objects are entirely the responsibility of the client. The client compromises itself to take on all financial, material and damage costs caused to the boat or to a third party. If any, that may implicate security, terra do Pico reserves the right to before the embark/boarding or during the trip, alter the dates, timetables or routes. Therefore the client cannot claim any type of refund. It is the client's duty to inform the crew about any pregnancy or health problem which may need any attention or special care.
