About
This tour covers the main highlights of the east half to São Miguel island, including Furnas, Vila Franca do Campo, Ribeira dos Caldeirões and the Northeast coast. Combine it with our West Tour, to see the whole island in only 2 days!
Departing from Ponta Delgada, road trip along the pleasant south coast of the island until Senhora da Paz, a beautiful chapel on the mountains with a splendid view over the entire town of Vila Franca do Campo and its majestic islet.
Continue to Furnas, a town built inside a volcano crater, that provides many delights to the local inhabitants, which you'll also have the chance to enjoy in this tour! From bathing in the thermal springs (optional, not included), to observing the steamy geothermal activy or watching your lunch (the famous "cozido") being pulled from the warm volcanic soil, experiencing Furnas is something you'll never forget!
In the afternoon, enjoy spectacular scenic views over Furnas lake and town, before continuing east to the beautiful waterfall of Ribeira dos Caldeirões, another mandatory stop of São Miguel island.
